The Requirement
Riverbourne House is one of twelve residential homes in Eastbourne, owned by Eastbourne borough council. It provides sheltered housing for vulnerable and elderly individuals. It consists of a combination of forty-two one and
two-bedroom flats including mobility and wheelchair access accommodation. The main building consists of a lounge, dining room, laundry room, a library, kitchen, garden, and guest facilities including two guest rooms. Residents were able to access Wi-Fi, however this was extremely limited and only available in the communal lounge area. There was an increasing need for staff to have access to Wi-Fi throughout the building to enable them to perform their duties quickly and effectively. Residents also needed to stay connected with friends and relatives from wherever they were in the building. To successfully enable both staff and residents to experience the best possible coverage and enjoy a quality Wi-Fi experience a decision was made that a new wireless solution was needed to deliver complete Wi-Fi coverage for the entire building.
The Right Product
Eastbourne Borough Council required a Wi-Fi solution which provided a comprehensive way of centrally managing multiple sites situated across the county. The EnGenius Networks solution was chosen to deliver the network requirement using its Cloud AI serverless Cloud platform. The Installation
A Wi-Fi survey was conducted across the entire site and a report generated quickly and easily using the EnGenius Wi-Fi planner. The decision was made to install thirty-one ECW120 Cloud managed 11ac wave two wireless
indoor access points, as this model offered the best possible performance and provides reliable high throughput Wi-Fi. This enables each access point to deliver services to not only the residents but to all staff devices too by using different SSID’s and separate VLAN’s, with guest users having access through a captive portal
The Result
Riverbourne House was able to obtain an Enterprise solution that matched their financial constraints with no annual on costs. This solution not only allows for management and control of one site but enables Eastbourne Borough Council to roll out the solution across their twelve sites managed via the unlimited licence free cloud platform.
